Who could have predicted that our world would change as we know it in only a matter of weeks. Do you ever wonder if the world will ever be the same again? Over the past few weeks I take little for granted and am grateful for the little things that keep me grounded and help me forget all the madness. While Joe and I are doing well, we recognize that so many families are sacrificing in ways I can’t even imagine. When our governor announced a “stay at home” order, everything got real for me. I have to admit I was nervous for days worrying about things I couldn’t control. Once the shock wore off I picked myself up and decided to find something productive to do. I got back to blogging but also started taking a diary of photos each day of our favorite meals and some views we spotted from our own backyard. With Spring’s arrival not only have the birds arrived but also other dessert wildlife making tracks through our yard. From sunrise to sunset I find beauty in things I took for granted only a few weeks ago. Life continues on as things look normal outside even though the world around us is not. May you all find something each day to give you peace and positive thoughts in the days ahead. We are all in this together! March 26, 2020, I woke up early to one of the darkest and richest sunrises I have ever witnessed. The sky was completely covered in clouds of dark blue. It was simply an amazing sight!
The sky remained dark but every few moments the colors would change.
And on the same day Joe and I sat in awe of this sunset. It looked like a painted sky with swirling pink and yellow hues!
Hovering cloud over the Sandia Mountains.
What a Looney Tunes world we live in. First the Roadrunner came by for a visit.
Then later that evening Wile E. Coyote showed up right outside my window!
The quail make an appearance almost every day. Sometimes there is just one and sometimes there will be as many as 6 trotting single file across the yard. They are so fascinating to watch!
Through my window I saw the hummingbird come for a drink.
Hope springs eternal! The colors of Spring make me hopeful!
Sitting in the backyard watching the clouds.
During this time, everyone bakes bread including me!
Bread represents the simple joys in life, the aroma is a memory of things that matter!
Comfort food is well . . . Comforting!
And Chocolate Cake. . . need I say more!
The little surprises that you find in a bag of Pita Chips. Who knew you could find New Mexico!
Celebrating birthday #5 for my wonder kitty “Z”.
He’s a goofy cat who makes me laugh and smile every day!
This is my love bug “Magic” who distracts me with his sweet snuggles!
And Miss Cheli who is going on 16 but still going strong!
“If I ever go looking for my heart’s desire again, I won’t look any further than my own back yard. Because if it isn’t there, I never really lost it to begin with… There’s no place like home”. (The Wizard of Oz 1939)

What beautiful pictures of our lovely state! We do have the most gorgeous sunsets don’t we? 🙂 We’ve been doing pretty much the same things as y’all. Bobby jumped on the garden early, so we have greens and lots and lots of herbs right outside the back door. Sitting on the patio in the morning I get to watch the hummers feed as well as the roadrunners that live in our neighbor’s yard. A white wing dove built a nest in the fence vines so we’ve watched her build the next, set on the eggs and now she has 2 little baby doves that she’s feeding and I never have to leave the patio chair. 🙂 Sounds like you are doing great! Keep up the wonderful cooking and enjoyment of your home. Take care.

You are so right, we have a beautiful state to enjoy! It seems like everyone is getting their garden going, I would enjoy seeing pics of yours. Its always special to have fresh garden greens. We don’t have the type of yard for a garden but I hope to have some potted herbs for the summer. We have a pair of roadrunners that have a special tree that they hide in from time to time. Looks like they have attempted to make a nest but it’s clearly not finished. Wouldn’t that be something if they had baby roadrunners!! Sounds like you’ve been bird watching too. You stay safe. . . Keep in touch!
