  • Dark Chocolate Brownies with Sea Salt

Posted at 10:45 am by NativeNM, on July 14, 2017

I cannot in any way take credit for these brownies.  They were created, taste tested and approved from Bakes in Slippers and they are the most delectable brownies I’ve ever made.  One of my favorite things about this recipe is that all the ingredients go together in one pot on top of the stove which makes for very little clean up.  Best of all is the moist chewy texture and dark chocolaty taste.  A sprinkle of sea salt on top just enhances the flavor.  Calling all chocolate lovers, you will not want to miss out on these!

This recipe makes enough to fill a 9″ x 13″ baking pan.  The ingredients you’ll need are butter, sugar, water, chocolate chips, eggs, vanilla, flour, salt, baking soda and sea salt.

In a 3 quart saucepan over medium high heat combine butter, sugar and water.

Bring to a boil while stirring occasionally.  Remove from heat.

Add 2 (10 ounce) packages of semisweet chocolate chips.

Stir the pot until all the chocolate is melted.

Beat the eggs and vanilla together.  Combine with the chocolate mixture.

Continue stirring until the texture becomes more silky.

Whisk the flour, salt and baking soda together.  Combine about 1/3 of the mix into the chocolate and fold in.

Add another third of the mix and continue to stir.

The mixture will be thick once all the flour has been folded in.

Prepare a 9″ x 13″ baking pan by lining it with parchment paper.  Spread butter over the bottom and sides of the parchment paper so that the brownies will not stick.  Pour the brownie mix into the prepared pan. Sprinkle with 1/2 cup of mini chips or whatever you have on hand.  Sprinkle sea salt lightly over top.  Bake in a preheated 325 degree oven for 30 – 40 minutes.  Jiggle the pan to see if the brownies are set and test with a toothpick to see if it comes out clean.

Let brownies cool completely before cutting into squares.

Dark Chocolate Brownies with Sea Salt (adapted from Bakes in Slippers)

    2/3 cup Butter
    1 1/2 cups Sugar
2 (10 ounce) packages semisweet Chocolate Chips plus 1/2 cup for topping brownies
    1/4 cup Water
    4 Eggs
    1 1/2 teaspoons Vanilla
    1 1/2 cups Flour
    1/2 teaspoon Salt
    1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda
    Sea Salt for Topping

Preheat oven to 325 degrees.  Prepare a 9″ x 13″ baking pan by lining parchment paper in the baking dish.  Spread butter along the bottom and sides of the parchment paper.

In a 3 quart saucepan over medium high heat combine butter, water and sugar.  Stir the pot while the butter melts and bring the mixture to a boil.  Remove from heat and add 2 packages of semisweet chocolate chips to the pot.  Stir until all the chocolate melts.  Gently beat the eggs with the vanilla and add to the chocolate mix.  Stir until well blended.  In another bowl whisk together the flour, salt and baking soda.  Add about 1/3 of the flour mix to the chocolate and fold in.  Continue adding the flour until all is combined.

Pour the chocolate mixture into the prepared pan.  Sprinkle 1/2 cup of chocolate chips and sea salt over top.  Bake 30 – 40 minutes.  To check for doneness, jiggle the pan to see if the brownies are set and test with a toothpick to see if it comes out clean.

Let brownies cool completely before cutting into squares.
