    Soy-Honey-Pork-Kabobs-9

Wow, I can’t believe where the time has gone.  It’s been 2 years since I posted my first recipe and it’s been quite a journey.  You learn things about yourself as well as others when you put yourself out there on a blog for anyone to see.  This blog was supposed to be about leaving something for my boys, a remembrance of times shared around a plate of good food.  But what I didn’t expect was the kindness I receive from so many friends, family and bloggers that enjoy the same love of food and family that I do.  So to start off another year of recipe sharing, I have a great pork kabob that is both easy to prepare and tastes terrific.  The soy and honey marinade go perfectly with this tender pork and just about melts in your mouth..  The kabobs grill in minutes and will go with just about anything . . . maybe fried rice or vegetables added to the skewer.  We ate our kabobs with a garden salad and sweet potato fries out on the patio.  It was the perfect outdoor meal!

The marinade consists of some Sesame oil, Sambal Oelek chili paste, soy sauce, honey, garlic, and ginger.  The sesame seeds come later.

Mix all the marinade ingredients together and cut a 1 – 1 1/2 pound pork loin into 1 inch cubes.  Skewer the pork.  If using wooden skewers, make sure to soak them at least 20 minutes so they won’t burn when grilling.

Brush the marinade over the kabobs on both sides.

Then sprinkle some sesame seeds over the kabobs.  No need to toast them ahead of time, they will toast while on the grill.

Set on a hot grill.  Let cook 3 – 4 minutes.

Turn them over then brush some more marinade over the kabobs and cook an additional 3 – 4 minutes.

The marinade forms a caramelized glaze that is so flavorful.

    Sesame Pork Kabobs

    1 – 1 1/2 pound Pork Tenderloin, cut into 1 inch cubes
    2 tablespoons Sesame Oil
    3 tablespoons Soy Sauce
    2 tablespoons Honey
1 clove Garlic, grated on a microplane grater
1 tablespoon Ginger, grated on a microplane grater
1 teaspoon Chili Paste (I used Sambal Oelek Chili Paste)
    Sesame Seeds, for sprinkling

To make marinade combine sesame oil, soy sauce, honey, garlic, ginger and chili paste together in a small bowl.  Thread pork cubes on skewers and brush marinade over all sides.  Sprinkle sesame seeds over the kabobs and place on a hot grill.  Let cook 3 – 4 minutes on each side, brushing often with marinade mixture.

    Makes 4 servings/
